PhD Research
During my PhD training, I was broadly interested in solid organ transplantation and tissue resident memory T cells. Specifically, I wanted to understand the role of tissue resident memory T cells in mediating chronic rejection of kidney transplants. My colleagues and I have:
- Found recipient-derived dendritic cells undergo cross-decoration where they obtain donor-derived MHC-peptide complexes, present to effector CD8 T cells, and are sufficient for sustaining rejection.
- Established that memory T cells in kidney transplants have a phenotypic, functional, and transcriptional profile consistent with tissue residency and mediate graft rejection.
- Identified that resident memory T cells require cognate antigen presentation and trans-presentation of IL-15 by monocyte-derived dendritic cells for their maintenance and function in mediating graft rejection.
